Speakers

  • Dan R. Anderson, Ph.D., the Leslie P. Schultz Professor of Risk Management and Insurance at the UW-Madison School of Business, has been observing sustainability risk management issues for his entire career. His book, Corporate Survival: The Critical Importance of Sustainability Risk Management, presents guidelines for improving business systems while enhancing environmental quality and social justice conditions.
  • Michael J. Belfatti, FCAS, manages the Tillinghast office in Philadelphia and heads the Enterprise Risk Management practice for the North America Property/Casualty region. He has broad expertise in implementing risk and capital management concepts for insurance enterprises.
  • Robert Gibbons, Ph.D., CPCU, CLU, Executive Director and President, International Insurance Foundation, has written widely on insurance accounting and finance and recently drafted the IAIS Core Curriculum modules on Supervisory Authority and on Investments.
  • Andrew F. Giffin, Principal in the Tillinghast business of Towers Perrin,
  • previously served as First Deputy Commissioner for the Massachusetts Division of Insurance, and as Chief Counsel for the Pennsylvania Insurance Department.
  • Alessandro Iuppa, Maine's Superintendent of Insurance, currently serves as President of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners and as Chairman of the International Association of Insurance Supervisors.
  • David Andrew Singer, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Political Science at MIT, studies international political economy, with a focus on international financial regulation, the influence of global capital flows on government policymaking, international institutions and governance, and the political economy of central banking. His book, Regulating Capital: Setting Standards for the International Financial System, will be published next year by Cornell University Press.
  • Michael Skol, President of Skol & Associates, a consulting firm specializing in helping financial institutions and associations in Latin America comply with U.S. anti-money laundering laws, was U.S. Ambassador to Venezuela and Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State.
  • Thomas Upton, Director of Property-Casualty Insurance Ratings for Standard & Poor's, frequently offers analysis of insurance market trends and developments.
  • Therese Vaughan, Ph.D., ASA, ACAS, CPCU, is the Robb B. Kelley Distinguished Professor of Insurance, Risk Management, and Statistics at Drake University. From 1994-2004 she served as Iowa's Insurance Commissioner and during that period served a term as President of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners.
  • Ellen Walsh is Director of the Governance, Risk Management & Compliance Practice at PricewaterhouseCoopers.
